Guwahati, January 29, 2019:

A Commander of the Indian armed forces has visited forward areas of Sikkim and is on a three day visit to Trishakti Corps. The Army Commander was received by Lt. Gen. CP Mohanty, GOC, Trishakti Corps and was briefed on the operational situation and preparedness. In a meeting with Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, the Army Chief discussed various activities which are being undertaken by the army.

The Army Commander visited forward areas, and briefed on security situation along the border and also interacted with the troops. The Army commander also complimented the soldiers for their vigil in inhospitable terrain and adverse climatic conditions. It is to be mentioned that Sikkim is a geographically sensitive region India as it shares its border with many neighbouring countries including Nepal and China.
