GUWAHATI: Alleging an attack by a mob of more than 200 people attacked Hindus and destroyed ISKCON temples and homes in the Naokhali area, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) filed a complaint with the United Nations Secretary-General on Saturday.
The organization brought the 9-day attack on Bangladesh's Hindus to the UN's notice and requested UN general secretary Antonio Guterres pay special attention to it.
On Friday, a mob of around 200 people attacked the ISKCON Naokhali premises, vandalizing temples and looting devotees' homes.
In their complaint, ISKCON also stated that a devotee was killed and that many more are still missing or gravely injured.
On Saturday morning, the body of Partha Das, a 25-year-old devotee, was discovered in the ISKCON ashram. According to ISKCON, he was killed with sharp weapons.

It further said, “It is with great grief that we share the news of an ISKCON member, Partha Das, who was brutally killed yesterday by a mob of over 200 people. His body was found in a pond next to the temple. We call on the Govt of Bangladesh for immediate action in this regard.”
According to reports, furthermore, the ISKCON stated in its UN complaint that a family, including a 10-year-old minor, had been brutally raped.
ISKCON has urged the international community to speak out against the cycle of violence that has been going on for the past nine days through their complaint.
Meanwhile, the region remains under curfew, and the victims are still waiting for more gruesome stories and the whole picture due to a lack of communication.
ISKCON also requested the United Nations to make an immediate condemnation of Bangladesh's cycle of violence against Hindus and other minorities, as well as to dispatch a delegation to Bangladesh.
