AIZAWL: Following the sudden increase in refugees in Mizoram caused by the fierce gunfight between the military forces and the National Unity Government (NUG) last week, Mizoram Lok Sabha MP C. Lalrosanga seeks Central assistance to accommodate Myanmar refugees.
Lalrosanga met Union Home Secretary, Border Management Sanjeeva Kumar, and Additional Home Secretary (North East) Piyush Goyal in New Delhi yesterday.
During the meeting, the MP seeks advice and assistance from the Central Government.

MP C.Lalrosanga told the union home secretary that the increase in refugees in the state raises new concerns for the state government, and he asked the Centre for assistance in terms of financial and medical assistance for Myanmar refugees.
In his meeting with the Home Secretaries, the MP also emphasised the importance of resolving the Mizoram-Assam border issue, as well as the importance of developing the border areas.
He also requested that the Home Secretaries investigate the appointment of Mizoram State Police officers to the All India Service, as the process appeared to be taking longer than expected.
