Manipur: Assam Rifles seize illegal drugs worth 81 lakhs

Guwahati, January 3, 2019:

In yet another act proving itself as a major deterrent against illegal and anti-national elements in the region, the Tengnoupal battalion of the Assam Rifles seized 27,000 WY tablets yesterday. Based on intelligence inputs from reliable sources regarding smuggling of contraband items, a team of Khudengthabi Post stopped a silver Maruti car (registration number MN 02 B 3497) at 7 am.

The car was travelling from Moreh to Imphal.After a thorough checking, 135 packets containing 27,000 pills of the outlawed substance were recovered from the vehicle. The tablets, weighing in at 2.802 kgs, were recovered from the chassis fold of the vehicle.

Mohammad Feroz, 40, has been apprehended and handed over to concerned authorities.
