IMPHAL: The Manipur government has begun airlifting fresh organic pineapples from different parts of the state like in previous years.
The Additional Chief Secretary P. Vaiphei flagged off the first consignment of 1.2 MT to Gurgaon from Bir Tikendrajit International Airport.
Manipur Chief Minister N.Biren Singh said that airlifting the pineapples even during the pandemic shall give a major boost to the farmers of the state.

"With Govt.'s support, the marketing firms have been able to scale up exports & the farmers have benefited to the tune of several Crores of Rupees", added the Chief Minister.
This year, the target has been set to export at least 250 metric tons (MT) of the fruit to Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Bangalore.
Krooshi Karma Naturals Private Limited collaborated with Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) for this mission.
The initiative is expected to benefit 900 farmers in the state.
From the earlier exports, the state had reportedly benefitted over Rs 78 lakhs to organic farmers of the state.
