Two days after the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Manipur, it is now being reported that Chief Minister N Biren Singh led government is likely to witness a major reshuffle.
Reportedly, the reshuffle has been necessitated due to immense pressure from BJP MLAs as well as Congress MLA who had defected and joined the government.

Earlier this year, many BJP MLAs including some BJP Ministers, revolted against the Chief Minister N Biren and demanded his removal, however, Biren managed to retain his position as the CM.
In December 2019, the Manipur Government saw another period of turmoil, with demands for the change of all Ministers, except the CM.
Moreover, whenever Biren announced schemes such as the 'CMHT' or the 'Go to Village', he hardly got any support from the Chief Minister.

After 3 years of Governance, the Biren Singh regime is now looking for cooperation from the Ministers to secure the Government's position ahead of the next Assembly polls in the State that are scheduled for 2022.
