As the Joint Action Committee Against Mysterious Death of Ningthoujam Babysana Chanu, a class VII student and hundreds of supporters intensified the month long agitations across the state, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh who is reportedly under fire, on Monday, has made an announcement to deliver the justice to this effect at the earliest.
Chief Minister said that his government is making all possible efforts to arrests the culprits, clarifying on the death of Babysana, a student of Standard Robert Higher Secondary School, Imphal whose body was found hanging inside her hostel on July 18 last.
The Chief Minister who also holds home portfolio has stated that the police has arrested all the suspected persons including son of the school principal, autopsy was done twice with video coverage, and section 302 of IPC was later included in the case.
The Manipur State government had requested the CBI to take over the case and for the time being, an independent Special Investigation Team was formed for the investigation of the case under the supervision of Chief Minister and investigation is under process. He mentioned that the protestors, JAC, Meira Paibis etc. can access any documents and orders related to the Case from the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
Despite CM’s assurances, various form of agitations across the state have been continuing with the sit in protests, mass torch rallies, and relayed hunger strikes at different locations.
On Sunday night, there were also reports of police using tear gas to disperse the protesters at Kyamgei area. Similar rallies were also organised at Uripok, Nagamapal, Singjamei, Awang Potshangbam Khullen, Awang Leikinthabi, Maharabi, Phayeng Kadangband, Lairenkabi, Sanjenbam, Heibongpokpi as well as villages in different districts of the state.
