Manipur Governor Dr. Najma Heptulla said that young students need to inculcate the idea of 'tolerance' while addressing the first ever Model United Nations conference in Imphal today.
The ongoing conference is organized by Polaris International MUN (PIMUN) in collaboration with Maria Montessori Senior Secondary School, Koirengei.
Heptulla stressed on the significance of tolerance in nation and state building. Speaking at the MMS PIMUN 2019 conference as the Chief Guest, advised students to respect others and work with an honest and disciplined mind in order to become a good citizen.

Students should participate in debates while taking up leadership roles, she said. Heptulla is hopeful that the ‘Coadunate Contra Conflict’ themed conference which includes debates and discussions, will encourage the students in public speaking and motivate them.
The conference organized at Imphal’s Hotel Classic Grande will conclude on October 7. The Governor added that such gathering challenges young students to use their thinking ability critically. Participating in the occasional debates help students to look at things differently and understand how the real world works.

Appreciating the talent of young boys and girls, Heptulla said that they have excelled in different fields, especially in the fields of sports and culture. Addressing the conference, she further expressed her hope that they would continue to bring laurels to Manipur with their best performances in national and international platforms.
The United Nations Model conference is a big inspiration to the students and adds another feather to the cap of school authorities, Heptulla said.
The conference was attended by Former Diplomat Mr. Ajit Irom, IFS Nengcha Lhouvum, Chairman of School Board of Trustees, Veno Rudupra, PIMUN Board Members, teachers and students of Maria Montessori School.
