Manipur: JAC asks local MLA to withdraw support to Biren Singh government

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) has condemned the absence of MLA Mohammad Ashab Uddin from the Monsoon Season of Manipur Legislative Assembly in which the Manipur People’s Bill, 2018 was passed unanimously and for not raising any motion against the Bill in the Assembly. The committee also expressed its dissatisfaction at Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s government for not respecting the sentiments of Bengali community of Jiribam.

The JAC, which is against 1951 as the base year as per the Manipur People’s Bill, held a meeting at Lalpani, Jiribam and rued the absence of Jiribam Assembly constituency MLA Ashab Uddin from the House on the crucial day the Bill was passed.

The Bengali community of Jiribam further asked the MLA to withdraw his support from the government in the larger interest of the community.
