MANIPUR: JAWAN INJURED IN MANIPUR ENCOUNTER

An Assam Rifles jawan sustained minor injuries during an encounter with suspected militants in Manipur on Thursday.

According to Assam Rifles, the incident occurred at Joupi in Chandel district in the early morning.

“An Assam Rifles team was on a foot patrol when suddenly it came under fire from the militants who were on a higher ground. After a brief exchange of fire, the militants fled. Later, blood stains were noticed at the site,” a senior Assam Rifles officer said.

He added that the jawan was injured during a fall when the shootout was on.
