Leaders and members of several Voluntary Organisations on Wednesday exchanged vows for the preservation of territorial integrity and protection of indigenous people of the northeastern states on the 19th foundation day of the powerful United Committee Manipur (UCM).
The UCM an apex body of several voluntary organizations was formed to fight against those who tried to disintegrate Manipur especially arising out of ceasefire agreement between the Government of India and NSCN IM in 1997.
As much as land of Manipur on needlepoint will not be compromised against all policies of the central government which is always intended for divide and rule policies, Sunil Karam, president of the UCM said adding that his outfit will not be a mute spectator if there is dual administration or any disintegration of Manipur.
Th Somorendro, President, LIPUN, (one of the leaders of this) said that people of the state need to fight united against the enemies leaving behind ethnic lines and affirmed that they will not accept anything which is base of community and ethnic line.

“There is not lovelier than emotional integrity among the people residing in the hills and valley of the state,” President of the United People’s Front Warepam Second said.
Highlighting the need for proper demarcation of the districts, International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) President, Joychandra Konthoujam, urged the government to look into the matters at the earliest as there is more tension between the neighouring districts and between two ethnic groups. He was speaking in the backdrop of the prevailing tension in the western part of Manipur between the two districts - Jiribam and Tamenglong.
Several people coming from across the state had taken part in the observation.
