Imphal, July 28, 2019:

One of the powerful local bodies in Manipur, the Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) has announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh to any individual who can provide information leading to establishment of the hidden truth behind the mysterious death of Ningthoujam Babysana (14), who was found dead hanging inside the hostel dormitory of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School in suspicious manner on July 18.

Under the pressures from various organisations including students’ bodies, the Manipur chief minister N Biren had already announced that the case will be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for investigation.

TUC president Pratap Leishangthem said that TUC also counts police personnel, members of different organisations, including students and wardens of school amongst the individuals to be given the cash reward of Rs 5 lakh.

Stating that the cash reward was announced with a firm aim to gather crucial information  as the efforts put in by the government so far have remained futile, the president assured that the identity of any individuals who provide related information of the suspicious death will be kept confidential for his/her safety at all cost.

Post mortem examination of Babysana was re-conducted at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) mortuary on Thursday following an agreement reached between the JAC and the government.
