Manipur: One Suspected Case of Coronavirus Found in Imphal

Imphal, January 29, 2020:

One suspected case of the deadly Coronavirus has been reported from Manipur. A woman from Imphal has been detected with the symptoms of the disease that has its origin in China’s Wuhan province.

The woman, identified as Moirangthem Roshini Devi, is from Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai, Imphal. She is currently undergoing medical treatment in Imphal.

According to reports, she had travelled to Hong Kong recently and returned on January 20. It may be mentioned here that over 130 people have died due to the disease in China and 4515 cases were reported of being infected earlier. 1500 new cases have also been reported.

China has imposed travel restrictions and wearing masks in public has been made compulsory to control further infection. India has also begun the process of evacuating nationals from Wuhan, China, which has been impacted the most by the outbreak of Coronavirus.

Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Raveesh Kumar informed that the Indian embassy in Beijing was dealing with the Chinese government authorities. It has also set up dedicated hotlines – +8618610952903, +8618612083629, ++8618612083617 and email address – helpdesk.beijing@mea.gov.in for the families willing to reach out to the Indians in Wuhan.

It may be mentioned here that the Coronavirus or 2019-nCoV is a new form of a virus that emerged from a seafood and animal market in the central city of Wuhan in China and soon spread across China and neighboring countries.
