Manipur receives 50 D type oxygen cylinders from Central govt

IMPHAL: Manipur has received another 50 D type empty cylinders on Monday issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to meet the prevailing challenges.

"The Central Government under the able leadership of Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji, we have received another 50 D type empty cylinders," wrote Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Facebook.

The cylinder provided by the Central Government was airlifted by an IAF AN 32.

CM Singh had also urged everyone to maintain COVID SOP as the state is under tremendous pressure surge in COVID-19 cases.

Earlier this month, Manipur had received 3 metric tonnes of medical oxygens from Assam to address its acute shortage of the same.

As many as 7 districts of the state including Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur Thoubal, Kakching, Churachandpur, and Ukhrul are in complete lockdown from May 7.

Over the last 24 hours, Manipur had reported 677 new COVID-19 positive cases including 12 personnel from the Central Armed Police and as many as 16 persons succumbed to the virus.

The state currently has 6477 active cases and the death toll stands at 578.

Manipur has recorded 39,720 COVID cases so far.
