IMPHAL: After as many as three students who were boarders at St John's School in Nungba under Noney district of Manipur tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, it was declared as a containment Zone on Friday.

All three are studying in class eight and hail from M Khunou village under Nungba Sub-division.

The students were tested positive for Covid-19 after they developed some symptoms associated with the disease.

They have already been admitted to the COVID Care Centre (CCC) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal.

In an order, the district administration stated that due to the imminent threat of a Covid-19 pandemic in the area, it has become necessary to impose containment measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

Any person, institution, or organization found violating any of the containment measures would be forced to commit an offence under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the order stated.
