'MANPAC' continues road-blockade in Manipur to protest CAB

Guwahati, February 7, 2019:

The Manipur People against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 has continued its wave of protests against the Bill. The group’s indefinite agitation in capital Imphal to protest the Bill has entered its second day today.

Today, MANPAC activists have blocked a road at Kawa along Asian Highway and confrontation between the activists and police personnel was also witnessed.

The activists have also staged a sit-in protest to express their opposition to the Bill. Yesterday, police had to fire tear gas to disperse protesters who had occupied Tiddim highway at Imphal West district.

MANPAC was recently in the news after calling for the ban of the Indian national anthem as well as the Hindi language to protest the Bill.
