Imphal, July 14, 2019:

The incessant rain has triggered landslide in the hill district of Tamenglong even as farmers in the valley districts were facing water scarcity in their fields.

An official report on Friday said that a heavy landslide at Bhalok Junction has damaged the only road that connects Bhalok and its adjoining villages with Tamenglong district headquarters.

The landslide triggered by continuous heavy to medium rainfalls in the last few days in the district has washed away a portion of the road, causing inconveniences to the villages.

The district authority has rushed to the landslide area with machineries to clear the debris of the landslide and cut a new road to re-connect the villages with the district headquarters.
