Meghalaya: Two kidnapped minor girls rescued from Assam; two arrested

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Police have rescued two abducted minor girls from Assam's Kalain, who are originally from the East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya, and two arrested in connection with the same.

Acting on complaints, the Meghalaya Police launched an investigation and with the help of their Assam counterpart they have managed to trace two girls whereabouts, according to reports.

Two arrested - Saydul Islam and Raju - had befriended two minors and later kidnapped them, PTI reports.

The girls have been safely brought back to the district and they will be handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) after completion of formalities.
