Meghalaya Cabinet to Meet in Tura for the First Time on June 10

Shillong, June 6, 2019:

The Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government has decided to hold cabinet meetings on a rotational basis in each of the eleven districts of Meghalaya with an objective to take administration closer to the people of the hill state, . The first cabinet meeting outside Shillong will be held at Tura on June 10, 2019. This initiative has been named 'Cabinet on the move' by the Meghalaya Government.

It has been hailed as a "historic occasion" as the government is making its endevour to reach out to every district of the State and will hold cabinet meeting on rotation basis.

This historic meeting will be held at the Circuit House in Tura.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma had earlier tweeted, “With the objective of taking governance closer to the people Government has decided to have Cabinet meetings on a rotational basis in different districts.”

The Chief Minister , Conrad K Sangma informed that the cabinet meeting, for the first time, will be held in Tura, on the 10th of June 2019 and others districts to follow.

It may be mentioned that this decision came a day after designated Prime Minister, Narendra Modi urged the MPs and MLAs of the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies in the northeast to gain trust of minorities and to remove the fear of being persecuted from this minds.

It may be added that Tura is a hilly town and a municipality in West Garo Hills district in the Indian state of Meghalaya. One of the largest towns in Meghalaya, Tura is a valley located at the foothills of the Tura Hills and right below the Tura Peak
