SHILLONG: Chiringro village became the first village in the East Garo Hills district to achieve 100 percent coverage for COVID-19 vaccination.
The Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma took to Twitter to make the announcement on Tuesday.
"Chiringro in Samanda Block becomes the 1st village in East Garo Hills to achieve 100% coverage of covid vaccination for all eligible adults. Congratulations to the entire team!", tweeted the Chief Minister.

In the West Garo Hills district, Golagaon Village under Bhaitbari PHC became the first Village to receive 100% COVID-19 vaccination for the first Dose while the Umdoh Byrthih village in Ribhoi District has achieved 95% vaccination coverage so far.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister inaugurated three oxygen generation plants at Tura Civil Hospital to further strengthen the state in its fight against the pandemic.
The plants are funded by the Indian embassy in Japan and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), informed the Chief Minister.
The state government has been going the extra mile to protect the citizens from the clutches of the COVID-19 virus. So far, the state has administered vaccines to 6,03,939 citizens including 5,28,722 for the first dose and 75,217 for the second dose.
