SHILLONG: In view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases, the Meghalaya government today imposed a ban on entry of tourists from outside the state with effect from April 23.
This was stated by state chief minister Conrad Sangma.
Though local tourism will continue in the state, tourist spots that witnesses high tourist footfall will be closed.
Meanwhile, the government has decided to reduce the time frame of RT-PCR tests from 72 to 48 hours.

Meghalaya recorded 73 new COVID-19 positive cases over the past 24 hours. The state now has 680 active COVID-19 cases.
On the other hand, 153 people have succumbed to the disease in the state so far.
