Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways to discuss a slew of projects which are being undertaken in the hill state.
The Meghalaya CM also took to Twitter to announce the meeting with the Union Minister. "Had a fruitful discussion with Hon’ble Minister Nitin Gadkari ji to initiate new road infrastructure development projects for Meghalaya", he tweeted.
The Meghalaya Chief Minister has said that the team from Meghalaya discussed various projects with the Union Minister. "We discussed the ongoing projects that are going on in our State, including the different CRF projects, the different national highway and HIDCL projects."
"We also discussed how to speed up the implementation of other National Highway projects which are yet to start and we got a positive response from him. Sangma said that he is positive that many of the other pending projects within the State will also start this year"
, he added.
The Meghalaya Chief Minister also stated that some new projects are also being discussed which need to be done in regards to CRF and inter-state connectivity, but stated that the Government is putting more emphasis on the current projects.
"Overall the response was good, and we will see a lot more attention being given to Meghalaya state and Northeast in general. We also discussed about the bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Dhubri and Pulbari, that is ", added Sangma.
He further stated that the Union Minister has given very "positive response" to the requests and demands of the Chief Minister and his team, which also included the advisor to the Chief Minister, Thomas Sangma.
