Meghalaya: Rape Accused Clicks Selfies Inside Jail Cell, Pics Go Viral

Shillong, November 11, 2019:

Vikash Gupta, an elected Ward Commissioner of Shillong Cantonment Board in Meghalaya, has officially broken social media after selfies that the rape accused had apparently clicked inside a prison cell went viral on social media platforms.

In a bizarre development, some selfies of Gupta, who was arrested on Saturday on rape charges, went viral on social media. Soon, confused netizens found themselves asking questions on the usability of cellphones inside lock-up being, with concerns being raised.

After looking at the pictures, one could be forgiven for assuming that the rape accused from Meghalaya had taken the pictures inside the lock-up of the Sadar police station.

It may be mentioned here that Gupta was arrested on Saturday evening for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl in Shillong.

Later, he had apparently clicked the pictures inside the jail cell, and they were subsequently leaked on social media, which caused sensation as he had apparently clicked the pictures during his incarceration.

Many sections of the public are now left wondering what is appropriate behavior inside the jail, and whether prisoners should be allowed cell phones inside the jail cells. Moreover, many people are wondering that perhaps the use of cell phones by inmates could pose security threats.
