Shillong, July 20, 2019:

At a time when the environment is facing great threats due to littering, garbage accumulation, and global warming, a few students from Meghalaya have set a great example by spreading a message of cleanliness.

Some village students in Laitnongkseh, a small village in the East Khasi district of the 'land of clouds', have taken a creative route to spread the message.

The young artists painted some truly adorable yet meaningful pictures (along with messages) to highlight the importance of cleanliness.

Their effort was lauded by the 'Swachh Bharat' initiative of the Indian Government on Twitter. A tweet sent out from the official handle 'Swachh Bharat' read: "Taking the creative route to spread the message of

It may be mentioned that the State of Meghalaya is renowned for its cleanliness. Another village in the East Khasi Hills, Mawlynnong is a village, is hailed as the cleanest village in India. It is notable for its cleanliness. It comes under the Pynursla community development block and Vidhan Sabha constituency.

Moreover, the Meghalaya Government is now even planning to construct ropeways to 'decongest' the streets of the capital city Shillong.
