AIZAWL: All colleges and universities in Mizoram will reopen from tomorrow, however, several COVID-19 guidelines will be there, the state government announced on Friday.

 

Schools and colleges in the state were shut down in March last year due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic nationwide and following that central government imposed a nationwide lockdown for the safety of the citizens.

 

The higher educational institutions have been asked to strictly adhere to the COVID -19 safety guidelines Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the state government while reopening the premises for students and staff.

State’s health minister Lalthangliana urged schools, colleges, universities, and other institutions authorities to follow Covid-19 protocols and guidelines as they are revised for the health and safety of students and staff.

 

Thermal scanning at the entrance points of the premises is mandated by all college authorities, and all students and staff, and wearing facemasks at all times is a must.

 

The classrooms and common areas will be sanitised.

 

Classroom seating arrangements will be altered to ensure proper social distancing between students.

 

Once physical classes begin, all students in colleges and universities will be mandated to wash and sanitise their hands regularly.

 

Moreover, schools for students of classes 5-8 will be reopening from tomorrow.
