Mizoram Govt to Set Up e-Visa Facilitation Centre for Myanmar Entry

Aizawl, August 19, 2019:

The Mizoram government has proposed to set up e-Visa centre in Champai, a border town near Myanmar to facilitate issuing of visa online for entry into Myanmar.

The Mizoram Law Minister TJ Lalnuntluanga discussed setting up of the new facility with Champhai district’s Deputy Commissioner, Dr Naveen Aggrawal and other officials.

According to sources, the proposed e-Visa facilitation centre will be set at the Champhai district’s Deputy Commissioner's office within one or two months from now.

The facilitation centre is proposed with the motive to ease the process of visa application. People wanting to travel to Myanmar for business or other travel purposes will be able to apply for visa online using the upcoming centre.

The meeting also observed that the proposed centre will be helpful in constructing better immigration centres and integrated check posts.

Accompanied by officials, Lalnuntluanga also visited the immigration office at Khawmawi in Myanmar and held interaction with officials of the Myanmar government.

Champai, known as 'Rice bowl of Mizoram', is a frontier district town surrounded by the Myanmar hills.it is the main business corridor for India and Myanmar in the area

Champhai is also considered to be the main trading centre of Mizoram with goods like clothes, silverware, and electronics imported from neighboring Myanmar through the trading post in Zokhawthar.
