Mizoram: Heroin valued at Rs 68,85,000 seized in Aizawl, two held

AIZAWL: The Assam Rifles today seized 153 grams of heroin in Chite along the World Bank Road in Aizawl here and apprehended two persons in this connection.

The seized heroin has a market value of approximately Rs. 68,85,000.

The operation was jointly carried out by a team of Assam Rifles and excise and narcotics department officials based on specific information.

Mizoram has been facing a drug menace since 1984 and over 1,645 people have died due to drug abuse till date.

In 2020 alone, 67 people died and 268 people were arrested on drug-related charges. In the year 2020, 67 people died and 268 were arrested for drug-related offenses.
