AIZAWL: A wildfire that started on Saturday has still been out of control causing panic in Mizoram's Lunglei district.

The wildfire has engulfed an area in a dense haze, putting people, houses and animals in danger. Since it is quickly spreading due to the wind, it is now posing a threat near a petrol pump, a hospital and a church building.

After capital Aizawl, Lunglei is the largest town in Mizoram that has faced wildfire turning the sky into a hazy din with a yellow tone. The region is suffering from a severe water shortage, which is exacerbating the situation.

The Indian Air Force is deploying two Mi-17V5 helicopters, each fitted with a Bambi Bucket, in response to a request from the Mizoram government to put out the fire.
