COVID-19 cases continue to surge in Mizoram; 25 new cases recorded

AIZAWL: Mizoram recorded 25 fresh COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours pushing the tally to 4,747.

The hill state now has 258 active cases, while 4,477 people have recovered from the disease.

On the other hand, at least 12 people have succumbed to the virus so far. However, no death has been recorded in the state on Thursday.

Mizoram witnessed the biggest single day spike of the year with 37 fresh COVID-19 positive cases recorded on Wednesday.

The Mizoram government on Monday issued orders to close down schools up to Class VIII and extended the duration of night curfew in all district headquarters of the state in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

Night church service has also been banned in the state.
