MON: Strange tidings from Nagaland's northernmost district of Mon, where locals have been able to peel off parts of a newly-constructed road with their bare hands!

A video is now going viral on social media, which shows armed personnel digging their hands into a concrete road, removing chunks of the topping with the bare hands.

According to the people who shot the video, the road was recently constructed near the remote Phuktong village, which houses less than 1,000 people from altogether 181 families.

One of the people can be heard exclaiming in the video, "What kind of a road is this?"

The men then go on to remove more of the road in evident exasperation.

Needless to say, this bizarre video is now doing the rounds of social media, leaving netizens baffled at the pathetic condition of road infrastructure in the far-flung area.

Reacting to the video, which was posted by one Mrinal Devburman on Facebook, a user Ujwala Kalkundri wrote, "What else to expect?"

Although this might seem incredible to the common man, such sights are not at all uncommon in the Northeastern region of India, where several roads have only recently been developed. This is due to the unevenness of the terrain, which poses a greater challenge for builders.

Something similar was also observed in the hilly Dima Hasao district of Assam, where highway road topping along the Mahur-Laisong road was removed with bare hands by student activists of the All Dimasa Students' Union (ADSU).
