‘Nagaland Against CAA’ to Launch Mass Agitation on Jan 18

Dimapur, January 17, 2020:

Nagaland’s online group, ‘Nagaland Against CAA’ has geared up for a unique agitation against the amended Citizenship Act or CAA on January 18.

On Saturday, the bustling Super Market area of Nagaland’s Dimapur town will witness the protest that has been named ‘Nagaland Against CAA’ demanding the repeal of the controversial legislation.

However, this protest has taken the peaceful and cultural route this time to express their resentment of an Act, which has been opposed by majority of the people across the country, especially the states in Northeast India.

A video released by ‘Nagaland Against CAA’ calls out to people who oppose the CAA and join the Saturday protest in Super Market area of Dimapur. The online community has taken the creative route and planned for music and art to express their resentment.

It may be mentioned here that although Nagaland has been exempted from the CAA, as it falls under the Inner Line Permit (ILP) regime, locals have not shied away from expressing their distaste for the Bill-turned-Act, along with the rest of the Northeast Indian states.

‘Nagaland Against CAA’ was formed to garner support for the agitation against the implementation of the controversial legislation. Launched on January 6, the community has managed to gather 20, 372 till the filing of this report. The online community plans to move to the streets of Dimapur on January 18 with music and art to continue opposing the Act.
