DIMAPUR: All preparations are on track to roll out COVID-19 vaccination drive, scheduled for January 16, in Nagaland.
The State Task Force (STF) on COVID-19 held its second meeting on COVID-19 vaccine, under the chairmanship of principal secretary of health and family welfare Amardeep Singh Bhatia at the directorate of health and family welfare in Kohima on Tuesday.
Stating that the state is all set for COVID-19 vaccination, Bhatia, who is also the chairman of the STF, said the vaccination will be done phase wise. He urged all the departments concerned to actively participate in the vaccination drive and also disseminate clear instructions in all the districts.
Bhatia said 26,500 doses of COVID-19 vaccine are being supplied by M/s Serum Institute of India to Nagaland for vaccination of the prioritised beneficiaries, including healthcare workers of the state and governments and armed forces, in the initial first phase.
The meeting deliberated on the rollout of the vaccine in the first phase and the role of all stakeholders in the statewide campaign in this regard.
It also discussed preparedness in the districts, the specific roles of all departments and faith-based organisations for the vaccination and also the role of directorate of information and public relations for creating appropriate awareness and information education communication activities.
State immunisation officer Dr Ritu Thurr gave a power pointed presentation on operational guidelines for COVID -19 vaccination at the meeting.
