AGARTALA: The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has announced that the new terminal building of Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala on the verge of completion.

“To expand the passenger accommodation with latest modern facilities, construction of the New Integrated Terminal Building and associated works at #AAI's Agartala @aaiagtairport , Tripura is on the verge of completion," the AAI tweeted.

AAI has also said that this new terminal building will be a state-of-the-art building with a capacity of 1200 flyers at any given time and will handle 2.5 million passengers per annum.

It will consist of 20 check-in counters, in-line baggage handling systems & 4 conveyor belts.

“The new terminal will be an energy-efficient building with a Sewage Treatment Plant. NITB will also have four aerobridges. The project is to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 438.28 Cr. #ProvidingTheBest”, the AAI further tweeted.

After Guwahati and Imphal, Agartala’s MBB airport is set to become the third international airport in the northeastern region by the end of this year.
