Odd-even rule in Kohima to be enforced to "minimise traffic"-Check details here

Kohima: The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Mohammed Ali Shihab, has issued an order for the implementation of the 'Odd-Even' system of movement of private vehicles for ensuring public safety and minimising nonessential movement of vehicles.

However, the system would be applicable in the Kohima Municipal area and would not be applicable on Sundays.

The registration number of vehicles ending with an odd number will ply on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Vehicles with registration numbers ending in even numbers will ply on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The odd-even system is already applicable in Dimapur.

The restriction on movement will not be applicable to:

  1. Press and two-wheelers (without a pillion rider)
  2. Vehicle carrying emergency medical equipments, essential commodities, LPG cylinders and oil tankers
  3. Inter-state trucks carrying essential commodities bound for the state of Manipur

Furthermore, all the permits issued prior to the issue of this order will be cancelled with immediate effect.
