Pradyot DebBarma appointed new Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee President

Congress President Rahul Gandhi has appointed Prodyot Manikya DebBarma as the new Pradesh Congress Committee President of Tripura on Monday.

Deb Barman’s replaces Birajit Sinha, who earlier served as the Congress President in the state. It is to be mentioned that Deb Barman, who is head of Tripura’s Manikya Dynasty, was one of the leading voices in Tripura against the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.

After his appointment, Prodyut tweeted: “Thank you Rahul Gandhi! I hope to ensure that an era of clean and honest politics is brought about in Tripura. To all my critics and friends alike I will remain the same Pradyot”.
