Pradyot Manikya unveils Maharaja Bir Bikram's statue; urges to introduce scholarship in his name

The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) Chief Pradyot Manikya on Thursday unveiled the statue of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya on the occasion of latter's birth anniversary at khumulwng.

AGARTALA: The TIPRA Chief Pradyot Manikya on Thursday unveiled the statue of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya on the occasion of latter's birth anniversary at khumulwng.

Speaking on the occasion, he proposed the idea of a scholarship to be introduced in the name of their king.

Taking to Twitter, the Royal Scion wrote, "Unveiled the statue of Maharaja Bir Bikram on his birthday at khumulwng. Our history, Our Identity is our Pride . Our history, Our Identity is our Pride".

"The TTAADC [Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council] has not spent the money and the cost of the statue has been borne by me", added Pradyot Manikya.

"He had always given importance to education. If a scholarship is being introduced in his name then it will help our future generations to a great extent, he said.

"My grandfather had a dream. And I am pursuing his dream. Whatever I am doing today it's for the welfare of my people and to protect them".

He further reiterated his demand for greater Tipraland and said that that Maharaja Bir Bikram Singh would get much more respect there.
