A cadre belonging to the proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) was apprehended on April 15 near Molphei village in Tengnoupal District of Manipur by joint forces of the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police.

The joint team launched an operation and apprehended the cadre from the area after receiving inputs about the presence of the militant in the area. The apprehended cadre has been identified as "Sergeant" Chingangbam Bijenta Singh alias Malem. The troops also recovered one AK -56 Rifle along with a magazine and live ammunition from the ultra.

The apprehended individual along with recovered items have been handed over to Tengnoupal Police Station for further investigation.
Note: The People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak is an armed insurgent group in Manipur demanding a separate and independent homeland. PREPAK was formed under the leadership of R. K. Tulachandra in 1977. It is primarily trained by the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM). The PREPAK is also part of Manipur People’s Liberation Front (MPLF), along with United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). At present, Achamba is the Chairman and Tajila is the C-in-C of PREPAK. The group has a strength of approximately 200 insurgents.
