"In Punjab, there is a great deal of apprehension. Sonu Sood's popularity among them, as well as his exemplary role in assisting tens of thousands of migrants in safely returning home after the pandemic broke out last year, would help to alleviate their fears," the chief minister said.
“People would believe this 'Punjab da puttar' (son of Punjab) when he talks about the vaccine's benefits and how healthy and important it is. Because they have faith in him,” he added.
Sonu Sood expressed his delight and honour at being named the vaccination campaign's brand ambassador.
"I consider myself fortunate to be a part of the Punjab government's massive campaign to protect the lives of the citizens of my home state," he said.
On the other hand Sonu Sood has expressed his support for students who will be taking board exams this year.
Sood posted a video on Instagram in support of the campaign to cancel the CBSE board exams in 2021.

He can be overheard saying, "I'd like to make a request on behalf of the students. The CBSE and board exams will be conducted offline, and I do not believe the students are prepared to take the exams given the current circumstances." He cited Saudi Arabia and Mexico as examples of countries where exams were cancelled despite a lower number of COVID-19 cases.
In video he captioned: “I request everyone to support students who are forced to appear for offline board exams in these tough times. With the number of cases rising to 145k a day I feel there should be an internal assessment method to promote them rather than risking so many lives. #cancelboardexam2021 .”
