GUWAHATI: India's original social media star Ranu Mondal has become the latest to jump on the Sahdev Dirdo bandwagon and a video of the crooner belting infamous 'Baspan Ka Pyar' is now rocking social media.

The video of Mondal's rendition has been uploaded on the 'indian.witticism' page on Instagram where it has racked up a massive 16,000 views already!

Interestingly, however, Mondal appears to be off-key while singing the viral hit.

Many users commented on the 'Baspan Ka Pyar' rendition, with some praising Mondal -- who has been away from the public limelight for a while now.

A user wondered why Mondal is still living in her humble home despite her newfound fame. He wrote: "Still she is in this house ...y Bollywood is not supporting her after doing such a hit song."

Actually, Mondal had moved to a better home after getting her first singing gigs. However, work dried up after the COVID-19 induced lockdown and she had to return to her original home.

Ranu Mondal's Journey to Stardom:

Before Sahdev Dirdo, there was Ranu Mondal.

Ranu Mondal became an overnight star with her rendition of a Lata Mangeshkar song on the Ranaghat station in Bengal. Back in November 2019, the singer had recorded three songs with Bollywood composer Himesh Reshammiya.

Ranu's hit song 'Teri Meri Kahaani' initially propelled her to stardom and the tune became a staple at West Bengal puja pandals.

During the Covid-19 lockdown, Ranu appeared in a YouTube video helping out some poor people.

Sahdev Dirdo's Route to Success:

Sahdev 'Baspan Ka Pyaar' Dirdo's journey to the top has been equally staggering. The kid singer initially got famous after his rendition of Gujrati folk singer Kamlesh Barot's version of 'Bachpan Ka Pyaar' exploded on the internet. The rest, as they say, is history.

The Chattisgarh Chief Minister felicitated the 10-year-old with flower garlands and made him sing the song. He was even called as a guest on the reality show Indian Idol.

Most recently, he recorded a new version of the 'Baspan Ka Pyar' song with Punjabi rapper Badshah, Aastha Gill, and Rico.

The new iteration of 'Baspan Ka Pyar' has become a smash hit, having accrued over 55 million views on YouTube and reigning at the top of the site's "trending" list (in India) since its release 4 days ago.
