GHAZIABAD: Over hurt religious beliefs and mental agony, a vegetarian woman in Ghaziabad sought compensation of Rs one crore as she was served with non-vegetarian pizza by an American restaurant.
The woman moved to the consumer court saying as she was served with non-vegetarian pizza, while she had placed an order for a vegetarian pizza from the pizza outlet, she will have to undergo arduous and expensive rituals to undo the “damage”.
According to reports, Deepali Tyagi, in her petition claimed that She is a pure vegetarian due to her "religious beliefs, teachings, family practices, own conscience, and best choice," and she ended up taking a bite of the meat pizza.
It was on March 21, 2019, when Deepali ordered the Vegetarian pizza for her family after they celebrated the festival of Holi, and the pizza was delivered late, thus she brushed aside the lax and bit into the pizza, unaware that it was non-vegetarian, and after that, she realized that the pizza had pieces of meat instead of mushroom.

Her lawyer Farhat Warsi told the consumer court that, Deepali immediately called customer service and complain about the pizza delivery company's gross incompetence in serving a non-veg pizza to a pure vegetarian, said her lawyer Farhat told the consumer court.
Moreover, when after few days the manager of the pizza outlet called her up and promised to serve pizzas free of cost, Deepali said
It is not a simple case of mistake, since the company has harmed religious beliefs and practises, as well as causing long-term mental agony. She also mentioned that she would now be required to perform "several long and costly rituals" that will cost her lakhs of rupees over the course of her life.
