NEW DELHI: Sikkim has bagged the most film friendly state award in the 67th National Film Awards.

The winners of the 67th National Film Awards were announced by Union information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar today.

There were 461 feature films nominated for the national awards this year. This year, 13 states competed in the category of Most Film Friendly Territory. Sikkim received the honour.

Assamese film Jonaki Porua was awarded the special mention, and Ronuwa-Who never Surrender the best Assamese film. Lewduh, Eigi Kona and Anu Ruwad were adjudged the best Khasi, Manipur, and Mising language films respectively.

The awards are for movies released since 2019. The directorate of film festivals, which is part of the Union ministry of information and broadcasting, is in charge of organising the event.

The event was originally scheduled for May last year, but was postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
