GANGTOK: Sikkim has been awarded the award for Most Film Friendly State on the 6th National Film Award held today in New Delhi organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.

In the event, ‘Sikkim’ was adjudged as the "Most Film Friendly State" award which was handed over by Vice-President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur, and State Minister L. Murugan.

Film Board Chairperson Pooja Sharma was present at the 67th National Film Awards.

The winners of the 67th National Film Awards were revealed today by the jury for the year 2019.

The Chairperson and other Jury members met with Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar ahead of the announcement and presented him with the Award nominations.

The jury was made up of notable filmmakers and people from the Indian cinema industry N. Chandra, Chairman of the Central Panel, Arun Chaddha, Chairman of the Non-Feature Films Jury, Shaji N Karun, Chairman of the Most Film Friendly State Jury, and Saibal Chatterjee, Chairman of the Best Writing on Cinema Jury, presented the awards.

Moreover, Savani Ravindra has won Best Female Playback Singer for her song Raan Petala from the Marathi movie Bardo. Gireesh Gangadharan has been awarded Best Cinematography for the Malayalam film Jallikkettu.

An Engineered Dream, a Hindi film has bagged the award for Best Non-Feature Film while Marakkar-Arabikkadalinte-Simham has taken home the award for Best Feature Film.

Kastoori has been awarded Best Children’s Film award. Shrikshetra- Ru-Sahijata has won the best Arts and Culture Film.

Kangana Ranaut wins Best Actress award for Manikarnika, The Queen of Jhansi, and Panga.
