GANGTOK: Sikkim's government has decided to close down all educational institutions till April 30 following a dramatic surge of COVID-19 across India.
On the other hand, government offices will function with 50 percent manpower from April 22 onwards.
Along with the rest of India, Sikkim has also seen a resurgence of the virus. On April 5, a 65-year-old lady from the capital Gangtok passed away, becoming the first such fatality to be reported in more than two months.

Sikkim registered nine new Corona positive cases yesterday, including a few tourists, the state health department stated.
"404 active cases are there. Out of the total of 6705 cases registered so far, 6017 have been discharged on recovery. Due to nil further death total death figure remains 136," said Sonam Bhutia, Information, Education and Communication Officer, Health Department.
