Sikkim to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall during next 3-4 days: IMD

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Sikkim during the next 3-4days, stated India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.

GANGTOK: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Sikkim during the next 3-4days, stated India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.

The rainfall is triggered by the influence of a low-pressure area over southwest Bihar and adjoining Southeast Uttar Pradesh and a mid-level cyclonic circulation over South Bangladesh.

IMD further said that impacts like the flooding of roads, water logging in low-lying areas, and closure of underpasses mainly in urban areas of the state can be expected on June 18 and 19.

It has suggested the citizens avoid areas that face water logging problems often.

Apart from Sikkim; Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura is likely to experience heavy rainfall at isolated places.

Thunderstorms with lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) very likely at isolated places over, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura.
