GANGTOK: A minor girl from South Sikkim who went missing last year on December 20 has been found in Madhya Pradesh's Indore.

The minor girl who was residing with her foster family in Ravangla, South Sikkim, mysteriously went missing last year.

Her local guardian tried every possible means to trace her after she went missing, but they could not find her and eventually reported the incident to Ravangla Police Station.

Accordingly, a criminal case was registered under section 363 IPC against the unknown person and an intensive search operations were carried out by Ravangla PS under the close supervision of Shri Thakur Thapa, IPS, Sr. SP/South Sikkim.

Later on July 3, a police team headed by SHO Ravangla, PI Sonam Topgay Bhutia (I.O of the case) have been sent to Indore, Madhya Pradesh duly obtaining Non-Bailable Warrant of Arrest from the Hon’ble Court of Judicial Magistrate, Yangang, South Sikkim as the victim was suspected to be somewhere in Mhow, Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

On July 6, the Police team not only traced the missing girl but also apprehended the accused person who reportedly enticed her to leave her house and forced her to stay with him.

Both the accused and the victim were brought to Ravangla in the early hours of yesterday and the accused has been produced before the Ld. Court today and remanded to Police custody.

For the time being, the minor child is being looked at by CWC until a permanent solution is sought.
