GANGTOK: The Sikkim government has released a revised set of guidelines recently for the tourists visiting the state in view of surge in COVID-19 positive rates across the nation.

Foremost, tourists need to register themselves in the state tourism web portal (www.sikkimtourism.gov.in) and a travel card is mandatory as well.

The guidelines strictly made it mandatory to carry a negative RT-PCR test report while visiting the state. If the report had expired the stipulated time limit of 72 hours then the visitors need to undergo Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) at Rangpo, Melli and Pakyog Airport.

If the RAT report of any tourist shows positive then they have to undergo quarantine at the government-paid quarantine centers along with their primary contacts until their RT-PCR report ensures a negative state of COVID-19 infection.

In case of a positive RT-PCR test report, asymptomatic persons will have to undergo 10 days of quarantine, whereas persons with symptoms and in need of medical assistance will be transferred to a COVID facility for further treatment.

All the expenses for the tests and treatments to be borne by the tourists themselves.

Otherwise, during the stay face masks, social distancing are mandatory, and spitting in public is strictly prohibited as per state regulations, offenders to be awarded a fine.

Tourists are also asked to ensure that their stay-in hotels are following COVID protocols with proper thermal screening and sanitization as well as the vehicles they will travel in.
