Sikkim reports 5 more COVID-19 deaths and 70 new cases in 24 hours

GANGTOK: Sikkim registered five more COVID-related deaths in the past 24 hours, as per the state Health Department.

Among the five new fatalities, four deaths were reported from STNM hospital while one death was reported from Rangpo primary health centre.

With the new fatalities being reported, the state's death toll has reached 210.

In the past eight days, Sikkim recorded around 43 deaths related to COVID-19 .

Meanwhile, the state reported 70 new cases of the novel Coronavirus during the period, bringing the tally of the positive cases to 11,480.

The new cases include 32 from the East district, 13 in the West district, 23 in the South district, and two in the North district.

The new cases were detected from the 190 samples tested via Truant and Rapid Antigen Tests on Sunday.

The low number of samples tested due to viral labs in Sikkim being closed on Sundays.

Sikkim currently has 2937 active cases of infection.

A total of 8123 people infected with the virus have so far been recovered as of yesterday.
