Spotlight| Manipur Woman delivers baby under torch light!

Pregnancy is perhaps the most beautiful stage in the life of a woman! This stage always brings a mixed-bag of utmost happiness as well as the pain of labor to a woman. But what happens when the delivery seems to be a scene from a Bollywood movie?

We are all aware of the famous delivery scene in Bollywood dramedy ‘3 Idiots’, but you would be shocked to hear that such an incident actually took place in Manipur’s Jiribam where a woman was forced to conceive under a torchlight.

20-year-old Armina Begum, a resident of Jaironpokpi, Jiribam had been rushed to Jiribam’s 50-bedded hospital for delivery, but due to a twist of fate, the lights went out just as she was about to deliver the child.

After getting the report, a media team of Jiribam district visited the hospital and unearthed the facts after which they found that the power generators had been inactive for quite a long time.

It may also be noted that even after the Health Minister had recently provided the facilities of free diagnostic centre lab, ultrasound machine, Baby warmer and X-Ray machine at Jiribam Sub- District hospital, the condition of the hospital is yet to improve This shows a gross negligence on the part of the hospital and we hope such incidents do not happen again in the future.
