AGARTALA: Amid reports of renewed friction in the Bharatiya Janata Party's state unit of Tripura, reports have emerged that a few party members are willing to jump ships to the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb and dissenting MLAs led by Sudip Roy Barman, who joined BJP in 2017 with others, are reportedly at loggerheads since national vice-president of BJP Mukul Roy had resigned from the party to re-join TMC after less than a year of quitting.

With Mukul Roy's shifting, six migrated to BJP from TMC last year. Now with Roy's homecoming, a reshuffle may again take place in the parties.

The moment reports of BJP MLAs joining TMC started circulating on social media, BJP’s national general secretary BL Santhosh and organisational in-charge of Tripura Fanindra Nath Sharma rushed to Tripura to hold meetings with the local leaders.

All these attempts are said to be made to oust CM Biplab Deb as the CM. The attempts to oust Biplab Deb as CM have been going to since last year; even BJP worker chanted slogans against Deb during Tripura BJP in-charge Vinod Sonkar’s ‘prabaas’ at Agartala.

Despite the open hostility towards Deb from some quarters, the state BJP unit has denied any rift in the party and said the national party leaders have visited due to some "organisational purposes."
