Addressing the media Gopal Roy said that back in 2014, when onion prices had touched Rs 25, the BJP party had launched massive protests. "Now, the price is Rs 120, but Government has 'zero concern' about it", the Congress leader lamented.

A similar scenario has also been witnessed in Assam, where the price of the vegetable has also risen exponentially. During the ongoing winter session of the Assembly, several opposition MLAs turned up wearing garlands made of onions.
